1-Click Receiving: Abbreviate receiving process for Good Faith vendors

Lowe's trusts Good Faith vendors will ship items ordered & document missing items to quickly facilitate receiving.

Problem Statement

The existing Detailed Receiving helps associates capture an in-depth picture of how less optimum stock receiving impacts inventory. However, it does not accommodate the fluid receiving process Good Faith vendor relationships should afford.

Hypothesis

By creating an abbreviated receiving process for our Good Faith vendors, we will be able to significantly reduce the time spent in the receiving process.

Testing the Solution

Once ready, the solution was released to 5 stores where it went through live user testing receiving real shipments at real stores.

Results

  1. Required no additional training
    All 15 associates who tested the app were able to use the app and complete tasks without asking for assistance or direction.
  2. Exceeded our expectations
    Receiving 10 pallets could take up to 45 minutes to complete was able to be done within 23 seconds.
  3. Reduction of waiting shipments
    Trucks were cleared out of the receiving lot far faster allowing associates to work received stock.
  4. More good faith vendors relationships
    Lowe's set a goal to build more good faith vendor relationships across their market.

Before Implementation

Before implementation, associates spent 2/3 of a shift during the receiving process was overwhelmingly occupied with processing trucks and breaking down pallets.

After Implementation

After implementation, pallets could be quickly stowed to make room for the next shipment.

Future states of 1-Click Receiving will need to incorporate a few enhancements:

  • Recording Damages
  • Upcoming Scheduled Shipments & Search
  • Multiple Receiving Reports (Edited PO's)
  • Associate Messaging & Updates
